B i o g r a p h y

Alessandro Casini was born in Fiesole (Florence) in 1993, and entered into the world of music for the first time at three years of age when he attended preparatory courses at the Accademia San Felice in Florence. The following year, he enrolled at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole (SMF) where he began studying music theory and the flute. Thereafter, he become part of the class of Maestro Giovanni Riccucci, principal clarinet in the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

During these years of study he gained considerable experience in playing in orchestras (under the conductors Luc Baghdassarian, Christopher Franklin, Nicola Paszkowski, Renato Rivolta, and Edoardo Rosadini) taking part in the wind ensembles (Lorenzo Bettini, Guido Corti conductors and teachers), as well as in chamber music with Riccardo Cecchetti. At the SMF, he stood out as one of the most gifted students, winning a scholarship five times, and a competition for soloists. Here, he was able to complete the basic course that enabled him to obtain the diploma at the age of eighteen. In this period, he either won, or achieved good results in various national musical competitions.

In 2012 he decided to continue his studies at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana (Italian Music Conservatory in Lugano, Switzerland), where he attended the class of Maestro Milan Rericha as part of the Master of Arts in Music Performance. Besides Rericha, he was able to train under the guidance of the following Maestros: Alexander Vedernikov, Xian Zhang (orchestra and orchestral conductors), Gabor Meszaros and Omar Zoboli (wind ensemble).

​He has attended special courses with his first teacher, as well as various masterclasses, among which are those conducted by Alessandro Carbonare, Calogero Palermo, Riccardo Crocilla and David Lattuada (bass clarinet).

 

In 2014, he won the second prize, in the under-20 category, at the International Clarinet Competition (Czech Republic). In 2016, he won the first prize in the wind category at the Concorso Internazionale Crescendo held in Florence, in addition to the Musical Florin (which he already won in 2012). He has been selected as Young Talent of the Leghorn Music Festival 2020.

 

Presently performs as Principal Clarinet with the Cupiditas Symphony Orchestra of which he is also a member of the board of directors. As part of his orchestral activities, he collaborated with the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestra Regionale Toscana, Orchestra Giovanile Italiana (2016-2017), Orchestra Sinfonica Metropolitana of Bari, Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina, Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini and Orchestra del Teatro Goldoni of Leghorn under the direction of  Daniele Gatti, Zubin Mehta,  James Conlon, John Axelrod, Fabrizio Maria Carminati, Gianpaopo Pretto, Daniele Rustioni, Philippe Auguin, Zhanh Xia, Joachim Jousse, Philippe Auguin, and Daniele Rustioni among others.

He regularly combines his orchestral activity with that of chamber musician.

For the Aethalia label he published the CD dedicated to Mozart's Gran Partita; concert recorded live in 2015 with the Rinnovata Accademia dei Generosi by Guido Corti.
